We are really in the Thanksgiving spirit!
We learned all about Thanksgiving, Pumpkins, Plymouth Rock, and Turkeys!
It all started on our homeschool field trip to Plymouth Plantation. We really enjoyed seeing the location, the houses they lived in then, and really desolate conditions at the time. Eric was the right age to start understanding the different times and different life styles. We listened to some Thanksgiving Youtube videos in the car. This one is our favorite! We visited Plymouth Rock (last year as a family) a couples minutes away from the Plimouth Plantations and the Mayflower Replica! WOW. It was tiny. It was completely eye opening realizing how grateful we are for our lives.
DID YOU KNOW? The Pilgrims were expecting to land in Virgina?
While we were on vacation last year, I bought the book The Secrets of Plymouth Rock. I brought that out for our lesson as well as a My First Thanksgiving Book and My First Book of Prayers. While I read the books the boys painted the different sized rocks and pointed out the smooth ones.
Next, We got crazy and painted feet to make Thankful Turkey Footprints which riled the kids up! I mean so ticklish and fun! I swear I'm keeping them forever. I even did Baby Danes foot prints!
Our Pumpkin Pie Recipe Activity was the perfect addition to our Thanksgiving Lessons! My boys loved filling out the different recipes and picking the pumpkins from their pumpkin harvest basket. We talked all about the different foods for Thanksgiving and all about Pie!
For extra brain power, with Thanksgiving Theme of course, we completed our Thanksgiving Printables with ease! Thanksgiving sight words, scissor skills, matching, and thankful worksheet!
