My boys love these smoothies! After the park or a walk, I can tell they want some instant fuel like quick Cheez-Its or Goldfish, I try to lean towards these smoothies to satisfy their sweet tooth and replenish vitamins. They think of it as a sweet treat!
What we use
1 cup of frozen strawberries
1 cup of frozen bananas
1 cup of almond milk
1 tablespoon of pure maple Syrup
I have them pour the ingredients into the blender and roughly explain the vitamins and minerals in the fruit and how they help our bodies. I believe teaching young children to know the benefits of the food they eat promotes healthy eating habits throughout their life. My boys are 3 and 5 so I encourage them to learn about the food they are eating and answer any questions they have but I don't force it. I try to keep it light and fun.
